The John Deere 318 is a lawn and garden tractor that was manufactured by John Deere in Horicon, Wisconsin, USA from 1983 to 19921. It is considered by many to be one of the best John Deere lawn tractors ever made.
The John Deere 318 is equipped with one of two engines: an Onan B43G or an Onan P218G and has a shaft-driven hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and reverse gears1. It also features mechanical two-wheel drive, power steering, and differential mechanical drum brakes.
Many attachments were available for the 318, including a 38″, 46″, or 50″ mid-mount mower deck, a snowblower, a blade, and a front-end loader.
