What is swing motor?

Swing motor is a hydraulic motor that form the proper turning force of excavator booms using oil pressure, shift rotation either to the right or left and convey or cut off turning power.

What is travel motor?
The travel motor is essentially the hydraulic motor interfaces with the final drive, providing the power that the final drive transforms into torque. That torque is transferred to the sprocket, which then turns the wheel and/or track.
How to buy them at the lowest cost?
It is also common to find the part number from a parts book, then buy the original swing motor or travel motor to ensure you are looking for the correct one. However, this method will cost you a lot.

 

So here are some tips and examples for finding a lower-cost swing motor and travel motor.
The most important step is: Find the manufacture number on the nameplate of your swing motor and travel motor.
There are many swing motor and travel motor manufacturers, including KYB, Nachi, Toshiba, Jeil, Kawasaki, Rexroth and so on. Some of these motors will be sold to excavator manufacturers, such as Komatsu, Hitachi, Cat and so on. Others will be sold in their own markets. Motors sold to excavator manufacturers get renamed part numbers and are resold at a relatively high price to customers. In other words, we can locate the source manufacturer with a nameplate of swing motor and travek motor if you would like to buy them and save a lot of money. Almost half the price of OEM quality!

Example1: Doosan company produced the GM09 travel motor, which was supplied to Komatsu company. As a result, Komatsu uses this motor in PC60-6 excavators and gives it a Komatsu part number of 201-60-61100. If you order part number 201-60-61100 from Komatsu, it’s difficult to find and quite expensive. But if you search GM09 Travel Motor, you can easily find it for less than half the price!

 

Example 2: KYB company produced the B0240-85058 travel motor, which was supplied to Caterpillar company. As a result, Caterpillar uses this motor in CAT 312C 312D 312E 313 excavators and gives it a CAT part number. If you order CAT Part Number, it’s difficult to find and quite expensive. But if you search KYB B0240-85058 Travel Motor, you can easily find it for less than half the price!
