As the summer approaches, the heat will have a detrimental effect on the performance of the excavator. So, what should we pay attention to in order to maintain the performance of excavators? Besides the regular maintenance of the excavator, make sure that each component is inspected as well.

First, check whether the antifreeze needs to be replaced. Many people believe antifreeze prevents the coolant from freezing and cracking the radiator when parked in the cold winter, so they only change it during the winter. However, we would like to clarify a misunderstanding. Antifreeze should be used all year round, not just during the winter.Antifreeze has two properties: low freezing point and high boiling point. As a result, it not only ensures normal operation of the vehicle cooling system during the winter, but also prevents the cooling water from boiling during the summer.

Second, make sure the water tank, hydraulic oil radiator and air conditioner condenser are not blocked. When the excavators operate in autumn, winter, and spring, it is very easy to accumulate branches and leaves in these locations, as well as catkin fluff. In addition, these things hinder the heat dissipation effect of the water tank, hydraulic oil radiator, and air conditioner condenser, resulting in high temperatures of the engine, deteriorated hydraulic oil, and inadequate air conditioning. When operating the excavator, always pay attention to the water temperature gauge, as a certain number of measures must be taken to reach a certain temperature. To prevent the internal overheating of the engine and subsequent accidents such as cylinder pull, you can park in a shaded area and idle your vehicle to cool down. Don’t immediately turn off the engine to prevent cylinder pull. In addition to checking whether antifreeze is present, you should also check the fan belt tension and fatigue after the temperature drops.

Third, the type of grease should be appropriate. A high ambient temperature in summer leads to high working temperatures for excavators. Temperature has a significant influence on the fluidity of the grease. When the temperature rises, the grease becomes softer, which reduces the adhesion of the grease, resulting in a decrease in the lubrication performance of the working and rotating devices. Grease with excellent high-temperature properties can maintain its adhesion performance at higher temperatures and slow down the deterioration and failure process.Be sure not to use grease that resembles flour.

Fourth, wheeled excavators in the summer driving, it is easy to cause tire overheating and air pressure increase, thus prompting the physical properties of rubber tires decline, causing a tire blowout. If the tire pressure and tire temperature are too high, you should park the car in the shade to cool down before continuing to drive. Additionally, the braking effectiveness of the whole machine should be checked frequently to detect any faults in the braking system as early as possible to reduce the risk of accidents.

Fifth, do not let the water exceed the center of the upper support wheel when wading in the water. If the water spreads over the rotary gear ring, replace the grease in the gear ring as soon as possible (Avoid superstructure intrusion into water and damage to the radiator fan).

Summer maintenance is not difficult. Master the above points, then, even in the hot summer, you can keep your equipment in excellent condition.
